Description	Same place April 7th [1865], Friday News last night that Richmond was commenced to be evacuated Sunday evening 2d. No doubt true – heavy fighting in Va five or six days previous – accts. meagre – it seems that our line was broken in several places towards the right – but was at some points re-established. Last heard from Lee he informed Government that the enemy had broken his line near Dinwiddie Ct.house Wildest rumors afloat General [John B.] Hood’s official report of the operations of the army during period he commanded it is before the public In the language of a distinguished Brig – it seems as if Jno. B. is as ambitious for distinction as a writer of fiction – as he is to be considered a great military leader.
