Description	Stevenson’s Div. Near Dalton[GA] March 16th ‘64 The military spirit is as high now as at any period during the war. The papers this morning contain northern news calculated to revive the old hope of recognition … Minister Dayton arrived in N.Y. on the 8th with dispatches. His father proceeded to Washington immediately. He had stated to some friends that the Emperor Napoleon had announced that something must be done to bring this civil war to a close, which had raged long enough without any definite result.
